Farm Bureau reads to Hillcrest 2nd graders!

Hillcrest juniors Savanah Miesner and Chloe Brannon served as legislative pages today at the Arkansas state Capitol. Other Hillcrest students were able to go with them to tour the Capitol and observe the workings of our state government. These students and our Hillcrest administration would like to thank our Representative Bart Schulz for inviting the students to the Capitol today, even though he couldn't be there as he was in Cave City helping with disaster relief efforts. They would also like to thank Cheryl Augustine, public relations lead at visitor services at the Capitol in Little Rock, for an amazing tour.

Hillcrest 3rd graders have been anxiously awaiting our classroom chicks to hatch. This was part of our study on lifecycles in science.

Hillcrest high school students recently toured Black River Technical College. During Sophomore Preview Day they looked at all of the Secondary Technical Center areas including welding, machine technology, CNA/phlebotomy, automotive collision repair and service, and industrial electricity. Juniors attended a Hard Tech Preview Day where they toured the fire training center, automotive collision repair and service, industrial electricity/robotics, welding, machine technology and gun-smithing.

Living to Serve! Our FFA Officer Team was privileged to serve at the Area 9 NEA Cattlemen’s Association Spring Conference. Our students had a rewarding experience, interacting with many leaders in the livestock industry. We appreciate Ricky and Virginia Goff for inviting us and sponsoring our FFA chapter’s ACA membership. #hillcrestffa #screamineagles #screamitachieveit

Tomorrow and Wednesday 9-12 grade volunteers are welcome to help with tornado cleanup. If we have enough students, we will go to various locations as needed in the Calamine areas. The requirements are that students participate, wear closed toed shoes, jeans, and gloves. It's supposed to be windy. We will provide breakfast and lunch. We will probably go out after lunch as well. Parental permission is required through handwritten notes or direct contact with the high school. Safety is our priority to help our community. Hillcrest School District is committed to helping those affected. Thursday will not be a cleanup day and students that need remediation will be required to be at the high school. Thank you and we hope for a great turnout of volunteers.
